December 2020

An end-of-year update on the things I've been up to.

A recap of some things I’ve done over the last few months. As well as a bit about a new app that I’ve been working on.

Hope you’re having a great holiday season.

I started a Tiktok recently, where a few of these projects below were originally posted.

💪 Desk upgrades.

Custom laptop mounting, magnetized LED strips and more. This desk was built to work for everything from coding and design to projects and games.

🎮 Custom Nintendo Switch

A custom Phantom White Nintendo Switch I built. It fades from white to clear.

☀️ Fake sunlight.

What would you pay for on-demand sunlight? It’s something I’d like to build in the future. As someone who has lived in a sub-basement unit and has had many people close to me affected by SAD I know how important sunlight can be.

Most of the solutions that exist today are either prohibitively large or prohibitively expensive. I will be building a few of these experiments in public (especially the ones based on public knowledge) and will continue to research ways to turn this into a viable product.

🧠 BCI experiments

I have been following and toying with BCI’s for a while, and want to build something around this one day– so I’ve decided to start doing more regular experimentation in public.

🕊 Flocknet

Flocknet is my search engine for Twitter and it’s now helping manage over 20,000,000 Twitter contacts. Founders use it to hire, and journalists and investors use it to source leads.

That number is incredible to me, and it’s been awesome hearing all of your stories about how you’ve been using it. We have an incredible roadmap for 2021 based entirely around feedback from you all. 🙏

⚡️New app.

As newsletter subscribers I wanted you all to be the first to know about a new social app that I’ve been working on called Hyper Online. We haven’t publicly launched yet, but we are (quietly) available on TestFlight, as well as in the Airport App Store.

The goal is to bottle the feeling of being together into an iOS app. There’s still much to do, but I’d love to test it with a small batch of you. You can learn more about it at this video, or on our website linked below under the video.

One thing I’ll ask, is that you please:

  1. Watch the video before you give it a try.

  2. It’s OK to discuss it privately, please don’t post us on public places like Twitter.

  3. Let me know if you’re using it so we can try it out together.

I have a lot of things I want to nail before I announce it– these three things will help me get there.
